September 9th - Mutual Aid Assist - Adams County Search Detail

At 15:42, Company 25 was alerted to assist Adams County box 9-08 for a search detail at 401 Labor Camp RD in Huntington Twp. Utility 25 responded with two ATVs and a crew of four. Company 25 personnel assisted multiple agencies from Adams and Cumberland Counties with a ground and building search for a missing male subject. Search and Rescue agencies were also assisted STAT MedEvac 12, which provided aerial operations. Crews were released at around 19:30 hours.


September 6th- MVA - School Bus vs. Car

Engine 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to the intersection of Locsut Point RD and Boiling Springs RD in the 25-06 box for a motor vehicle accident, reportedly involving a school bus. Fortunatley, the school bus did not have any children on board. A male passenger in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital as a precaution. Company 25 personnel assisted PSP with traffic control at the scene until all vehicles were removed from the roadway.

August 21st - Assist, Thornwald Mansion Fire

Just before 0500, Engine Co 25 was alerted to a transfer assignment to Company 40's quarters while they were operating at a structure fire at the historic Thornwald Mansion, on Bicentennial Dr in Carlisle. About an hour after arriving on station, Engine 25 was summoned to the scene for manpower support. The Engine, along with a crew of five, positioned behind Engine 236 on Ridge RD and sent its manpower forward. Monroe firefighters assisted with exterior operations until Command decided to limit the use of master streams in an attempt to let the roof burn off. Engine 25 was released from the scene at approximatley 0830.

August 11th - MVA, Bicycle vs. Motorcycle w/ aeromedical evac

Shortly after 10:00 hours, Engine Co. 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of 286 S. Locust Point RD, for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a bicyclist. Headquarters advised Lifelion was on standby due to the nature of the accident. Rescue 27 was diverted to establish a landing zone a short distance away. After an assessment by EMS personnel, the bicyclist was transported via Lifelion to a local trauma center for a possible head injury. The rider of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

August 5th- Mass Casualty Incident (2-Vehicle MVA)

Engine Company 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of S. Locust Point Rd and W. Lisburn RD with a vehicle overturned. Safety 33 arrived on scene and confirmed one vehicle had rolled over and there was a significant number of patients at the scene. Command 25 was established and immediately requested several additional BLS units. More than a dozen patients were triaged and transported by ground to several nearby hospitals.


August 1st- South Middleton Barn Fire, Box 35-103

Engine and Tanker 25 were alerted to a barn fire at 50 Lisburn RD in the 35-103 box. First arriving units found a fully involved barn fire and concentrated on protecting exposures. A special thank you to Engine 430 and Tanker 19 for covering the 25 house while we were out. Further details will be posted as received.


July 29th- Surprise Storm Brings S. Middleton Action

A late evening thunderstorm resulted in 2 incidents in South Middleton Township. Both incidents were for homes struck by lightning. The storm-related damaged seemed confined to the township. Crews from Monroe were delayed responding to the second incident due to debris on the roadways.


July 25th- Transfer to Co. 19, Smoke in a Basement

Tanker 25 transferred to Company 19's quarters while they were out at a house fire at 229 West Columbia Ave in E. Pennsboro Twp. While on the transfer assignment, along with E-133, Tanker 25, Tanker 19, and Chief 19 (Dressler) responded to call for smoke in a basement. Chief 19 arrived on scene to find a small tan bark fire to the rear of the resident with no extension.


July 16th- MVA: Vehicle Into a Home w/ Entrapment

July 16 - Around 13:00 Company 25 was alerted to a motor vehicle accident at 1203 York RD. The vehicle was reported into a structure with entrapment.

Upon arrival of Engine 25, crews found a Ford F-450, towing a loaded cattle trailer, into a residence with the driver entrapped.

July 14th- Saturday Night Action on "the Border"

The Northside (Co. 33) and Southside (Co. 25) Engines, as well as Rescues 31 and 27 were alerted to a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle in the area of 1056 W. Trindle RD (Box 33-101). EMS units on scene requested an aeromedical transport to a local trauma center. Engine 25 (C25 Heckert, FF Hare) established a landing zone for Lifelion a short distance down the road from the accident scene.


July 1st- MVA, Box 25-09

Just before 0900 hours on the 1st of July, Engine Co. 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to an auto accident at the intersection of Williams Grove RD and Steam Engine Hill at the Williams Grove Historic Steam Engine Association. York County Rescue 64 was also alerted to the accident due to another call to York County 9-1-1. Rescue 64 arrived on scene first and advised Chief 25 there was negative entrapment and 1 BLS injury. The injured person was transported by Ambulance 64 to Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Command 25 (Heckert) released York R64 and R27 and remained on the scene until PSP arrived.


June 12th & 13th - Severe Weather Outbreak

On June 12 and 13, south-central PA experience a severe weather outbreak that resulted in several weather-related calls over the two-day period. All calls were wind-damage related. No injuries or major property damage occurred as a result of these storms.


May 28th - Company 25 Welcomes its Newest (and youngest) "Member"

Monroe Fire Company proudly announces the birth of Angelina LaConte, daughter of members Kevin and Grace LaConte. Angelina was born the morning of May 28, 2007. Angelina was 5lbs, 14 oz and was 18 inches long. Mother and daughter are doing just fine. Congratulations to Kevin and Grace!


May 16th - Another Fatal MVA in the 25-06 Box

Shortly after 08:00 Engine 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of W. Lisburn RD and Boiling Springs RD. The accident involved two vehicles, one overturned and the other into a nearby residence. Unfortunately, the 19-year old male driver of the overturned vehicle died at the scene. May 13th - MVA, Vehicle Overturned, Box 25-06

Engine Company 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to a motor vehicle accident with a vehicle overturned (the second in as many days) at the intersection of Boiling Springs RD and South Locust Point RD in the 25-06 box. Crews arrived to find one pickup truck, overturned against an embankment and a passenger sedan involved. All occupants were self-extricated from the vehicles. West Shore EMS provided medical support at the scene and transported the patients to area hospitals. A special thank you to Traffic 33, as well as Mechanicsburg and Monroe fire police for providing scene control.


May 12th - One MVA & Two Mutual Aid Assists

May 12, 2007 was a busy day for members of Company 25. The day started with an auto accident with a vehicle overturned in the 25-02 box at the intersection of Lutztown RD and Boiling Springs RD. Rescue 40 assisted Engine 25 at the scene. Later in the day, crews were alerted to a house struck by lightning in the 33-01 box at 2 Appomatox Court; however, command 33 held the box to units from 33. Finally, Engine 25 was alerted to assist with a house fire in the 19-01 box in East Pennsboro Twp., for a house fire at 15 Cherish Drive. Engine 25 provided overhaul support and assisted with its CAFS system.


April 28th - Electrical Fire

Companies 25, 23, 27, and 28 were alerted to a reported electrical fire in a mobile home at the Williams' Grove Trailer Park at 1550 Williams' Grove RD. Upon arrival, 25 personnel reported a light smoke condition and Chief 125 held the box to units on scene. Crews from 25, 23, and 27 conducted an investigation of the residence for any extension and after finding no signs of extension, cleared the scene.


April 27th - MVA w/ Confinement, Box 25-06

Company 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to an MVA with confinement at the intersection of W. Lisburn Rd and Boiling Springs RD at 20:17. One patient was extricated from a vehicle off the roadway, into the field. The patient was then transported to Hershey Medical Center by Lifelion. Other patients involved in the accident were transported by ground to Carlisle Regional Medical Center. A more detailed incident report and slide show will be posted soon.


April 24th - 2 More Calls for the 25 House

Tanker 25 was alerted to the 33-10 box for smoke in a house at 7043 Carlisle Pike, lot 321. The call turned out to be minor and command 33 placed the tanker available while en route.

Around 20:00 hours, Company 25 was alerted to a barn fire in the 25-02 box at 1458 Leidigh Dr. Units alerted were Engines 25, 35, 1-36; Truck 45; Rescue 40; Tankers 25, 23, 41, 31, York Co 65; and Brush 25. Chief 125 arrived on scene with a working fire. The fire turned out to be a well-involved farm tractor inside the barn with extension to the rafters inside the structure. The fire was knocked down quickly and Chief 125 held the box to Engine 25, 35, 1-36, Truck 45, Tanker 65, Ambulance 91, and Fire Police from Monroe, South Middleton, and Mechanicsburg. Engine 25 extinguished the tractor after it was removed from the barn, while the remaining crews checked for extension and completed overhaul operations.


April 22nd - Summer Weather Results in 2 Calls

Summer-like temperatures likely contributed to two calls for Company 25 today. The first call was in the 25-08 box for an auto accident involving a motor cycle. The accident was located on the sharp turn on W. Lisburn RD, just east of Williams Grove RD. Chief 125 (Mixell), Engine 25, Mini-Pumper 25, and Rescue 27 responded to the call. Crews assisted with patient care and established a landing zone for LifeLion 3 (Carlisle).

Later in the afternoon, Tanker 25 and Brush 25 responded along with other members of the Piney Mountain Strike Team to a reported mountain fire in Cooke Twp., at 1806 Centerville RD. Tanker 25 assisted with water supply operations while Brush 25's crew assisted with mop-op operations. Chief 6 (Bretzman) estimated a little over an acre burned.


April 19th - MVA w/ entrapment & fire

Shortly after midnight, Company 25 was alerted to a MVA across from 1550 Williams Grove RD in the 25-09 box. Headquarters advised of a single vehicle into a pole, off the road, with entrapment and on fire. While en route, headquarters advised the patient was self-extricated from the vehicle. Chief 225 and several members in POV arrived on scene first, confirmed there was no entrapment or fire, and began patient care. Chief 125 assumed command of the incident upon arrival. Engine 25 provided scene lighting during the incident. The patient was transported by ground to Hershey Medical Center for his injuries. Co 25 was assisted by fire police from Monroe, Mechanicsburg, and Upper Allen Twp.

April 5 - Multiple Calls

April 5, 2007 proved to be a busy day for the 25 crew. The day started with a med assist on Fisher RD. Shortly after lunch, Tanker 25 was alerted to a trailer fire at 7043 Carlisle Pike in the 33-10 box. Once en route, Tanker 25 was diverted to standby in Company 33's quarters. At 14:14 Utility 25 was requested to 115 Cold Springs RD in the 136-102 box in Dickinson Twp for a mountain fire. Tanker 25 was also requested to the scene a short time later.


April 1st - Mountain Fire

Monroe Fire Co received its first Piney Mountain Strike Team deployment of the year for a mountain fire in Cooke Twp., Cumberland County shortly after 02:00 hours.


March 14 - MVA - Box 25-06
 

Engine Co 25 and Rescue 27 were once again alerted to the intersection of Boiling Springs RD (Rt 174) and W. Lisburn Rd for a MVA with rollover. C25 arrived on scene to find a two pickups involved, one overturned. One patient was flown from the scene and two others were tranported by ground to Harrisburg Hospital. PA State Police are investigating.


February 22 - Tanker 25 in Service!

Just after 16:00 the new Tanker 25 went in service. Check back soon for information on the new tanker.


February 18 - Fatal MVA w/ Double Entrapment, Rt 174 & W. Lisburn RD

Engine Company 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to a reported MVA with rollover and entrapment at the intersection of Rt 174 and W. Lisburn RD. Chief 225 established command, confirmed two patients were entrapped and requested Co 33 - New Kingstown for LZ operations. Following extrication, Lifelion transported one patient to Hershey Medical Center, unfortunately, the second entrapped patient died at the scene. Two other patients were transported by ground to a local hospital.
