April 1st - Mountain Fire

Monroe Fire Co received its first Piney Mountain Strike Team deployment of the year for a mountain fire in Cooke Twp., Cumberland County shortly after 02:00 hours.


April 5th - Multiple Calls

April 5, 2007 proved to be a busy day for the 25 crew. The day started with a med assist on Fisher RD. Shortly after lunch, Tanker 25 was alerted to a trailer fire at 7043 Carlisle Pike in the 33-10 box. Once en route, Tanker 25 was diverted to standby in Company 33's quarters. At 14:14 Utility 25 was requested to 115 Cold Springs RD in the 136-102 box in Dickinson Twp for a mountain fire. Tanker 25 was also requested to the scene a short time later.


April 19th - MVA, Box 25-06

Shortly after midnight, Company 25 was alerted to a MVA across from 1550 Williams Grove RD in the 25-09 box. Headquarters advised of a single vehicle into a pole, off the road, with entrapment and on fire. While en route, headquarters advised the patient was self-extricated from the vehicle. Chief 225 and several members in POV arrived on scene first, confirmed there was no entrapment or fire, and began patient care. Chief 125 assumed command of the incident upon arrival. Engine 25 provided scene lighting during the incident. The patient was transported by ground to Hershey Medical Center for his injuries. Co 25 was assisted by fire police from Monroe, Mechanicsburg, and Upper Allen Twp.

April 22nd - Summer Weather Results in 2 Calls

Summer-like temperatures likely contributed to two calls for Company 25 today. The first call was in the 25-08 box for an auto accident involving a motor cycle. The accident was located on the sharp turn on W. Lisburn RD, just east of Williams Grove RD. Chief 125 (Mixell), Engine 25, Mini-Pumper 25, and Rescue 27 responded to the call. Crews assisted with patient care and established a landing zone for LifeLion 3 (Carlisle).

Later in the afternoon, Tanker 25 and Brush 25 responded along with other members of the Piney Mountain Strike Team to a reported mountain fire in Cooke Twp., at 1806 Centerville RD. Tanker 25 assisted with water supply operations while Brush 25's crew assisted with mop-op operations. Chief 6 (Bretzman) estimated a little over an acre burned.

April 24th - 2 More Calls for the 25 House

Tanker 25 was alerted to the 33-10 box for smoke in a house at 7043 Carlisle Pike, lot 321. The call turned out to be minor and command 33 placed the tanker available while en route.

Around 20:00 hours, Company 25 was alerted to a barn fire in the 25-02 box at 1458 Leidigh Dr. Units alerted were Engines 25, 35, 1-36; Truck 45; Rescue 40; Tankers 25, 23, 41, 31, York Co 65; and Brush 25. Chief 125 arrived on scene with a working fire. The fire turned out to be a well-involved farm tractor inside the barn with extension to the rafters inside the structure. The fire was knocked down quickly and Chief 125 held the box to Engine 25, 35, 1-36, Truck 45, Tanker 65, Ambulance 91, and Fire Police from Monroe, South Middleton, and Mechanicsburg. Engine 25 extinguished the tractor after it was removed from the barn, while the remaining crews checked for extension and completed overhaul operations.

April 27th - MVA w/ Confinement

Company 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to an MVA with confinement at the intersection of W. Lisburn Rd and Boiling Springs RD at 20:17. One patient was extricated from a vehicle off the roadway, into the field. The patient was then transported to Hershey Medical Center by Lifelion. Other patients involved in the accident were transported by ground to Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

April 28th - Electrical Fire

Companies 25, 23, 27, and 28 were alerted to a reported electrical fire in a mobile home at the Williams' Grove Trailer Park at 1550 Williams' Grove RD. Upon arrival, 25 personnel reported a light smoke condition and Chief 125 held the box to units on scene. Crews from 25, 23, and 27 conducted an investigation of the residence for any extension and after finding no signs of extension, cleared the scene.
