2 Airlifted Following Head-On Crash

Two people were airlifted following a head-on crash in the 1100 block of York RD. 

Engine Co. 25, Rescue 27, and EMS crews from West Shore, Dillsburg, and Yellow Breeches were alerted to the collision, which was reported head-on with entrapment.

C225 (Farrell) arrived on scene, confirmed dispatch, and requested air medical to the scene.

A total of three vehicles were involved in the collision when an older model Jeep Cherokee side-swiped a Ford Focus before crossing the center line and striking a Toyota sedan head-on.

The driver of the Jeep self-extricated and was taken by bystanders into a nearby home.  The driver of the Toyota was pinned under the dashboard and was extricated by crews from Rescue 27. Both the drivers of the Jeep and Toyota were flown to Hershey Medical Center by Lifelion.

The driver of the Ford was transported by ground to a nearby hospital for treatment.

New Tanker 25 Placed in Service

Feb 22 – Just after 16:00, our new tanker was placed in service, replacing the former E-One tanker, which has been sold to McConnellsburg Fire Department.

The new tanker is an eliptical stainless steel tanker built by 4 Guys Stainless Steel Fire Trucks (Meyersdale, PA)

The 2006 International Tanker is equipped with a 1250 GPM pump, cross lays, and a deck gun to serve as attack support when needed. In addition, the tanker has a fold-a-tank and side discharges.

Fatal MVA w/ Double Entrapment

Feb 18 – Engine Co 25 and Rescue 27 were alerted to a reported motor vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment at the intersection of Boiling Springs RD and W Lisburn RD.

Chief 225 (Farrell) was the first to arrive on scene and confirmed two occupants were trapped in one of the vehicles. In addition, because crews from 25 and 27 were committed to the extrication, C225 requested Company 33 to establish a landing zone at the scene for Lifelion.

Following extrication of the patients, Lifelion transported one to Hershey Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, the second patient passed away at the scene.  Two other individuals from the other vehicle were transported from the scene to a local hospital. The Cumberland County Coroner’s office and Pennsylvania State Police conducted an investigation into the cause of the crash.
