February 2011 Report

For the month of February 2011, Monroe Fire Company responded to a total of 29 incidents, including 19 (66%) in Monroe Township.  The remaining 10 (34%) occurred as mutual aid responsed to the following surrounding jurisdictions:

  • Hampden Twp:  1
  • Mechanicsburg:  1
  • Silver Spring Twp:  1
  • Upper Allen Twp:  1
  • York County, Dillsburg Boro:  1
  • York County, Washington Twp:  1
  • York County, Warrington Twp:  1

Of the 19 incidents in Monroe Township; 5 (26%) were auto accidents, 5 (26%) were emergency medical, 2 (10%) were trees/wires down, 2 (10%) were automatic fire alarms, 2 (10%) were building fires, 1 (5%) brush fire, 1 (5%) carbon monoxide alarm, and 1 (5%) public service for a child locked in a vehicle.

The 10 mutual aid incidents consisted of 8 building fire responses, 1 assist for wires down, and 1 brush fire.

Of particular note, two of the mutual aid building fires occurred in one night.  The early morning hours of 20 February saw E25 transferring to Hampden Twp, while they operated at a residential building fire.  While en route to Hampden, E25 diverted to the scene of a reported building fire at 48 W Main St in Mechanicsburg.  The fire would eventually reach three-alarms.
