Car Fire Starts the Work Week


Company 25 responded to a reported car fire in the 1200 block of York Road during the morning hours of July 29, 2013.

July 29th – Company 25 was dispatched to a reported car fire in the 1200 block of York Road at 10:49 a.m.  Following dispatch, Headquarters advised Chief 125 (Farrell) of additional calls indicating a victim was pulled from the car and the incident may have been an auto accident.  The box was upgraded to a possible motor vehicle accident with fire which added Rescue 45 (Carlisle Fire & Rescue Service) and BLS units from Yellow Breeches (Co. 91), and Dillsburg (York Co. 64) and an ALS unit from Cumberland-Goodwill of Carlisle (Co. 40).

C125 arrived and advised of a well involved vehicle off the roadway.  All victims were confirmed removed from the vehicle and Rescue 45 and EMS from Co 64 were placed available.

The fire is believed to have started in the vicinity of the front seat.  One patient was transported to the hospital.  The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.

As units were clearing the car fire, an EMS incident was dispatched in the area of Creek Road and Leidigh Drive for a possible animal bite victim.  Company 25 arrived and found a patient who was exhibiting signs of anaphylaxis.  Crews assisted with patient stabilization and provided traffic control for the EMS incident. A391 and M240, who had just returned from the car fire, attended to the patient.  All units were available shortly after noon.
