July 13 – 14th – The night of July 13th into the early hours of July 14th proved busy for Monroe firefighters. A first alarm building fire assignment was dispatched for an electrical fire inside a mobile home on Sinclair RD. Upon investigation, it turns out the occupant called 9-1-1 several hours after observing wires arcing inside the home. Firefighters investigated the residence and determined there was no threat, but secured power to the residence until an electrician could be contacted.
Shortly after midnight, Monroe firefighters along with crews from South Middleton Township’s Citizen Fire Company No. 1 and Bendersville were alerted to a search detail in Dickinson Twp in the area of Carlisle RD and Pine Grove RD. Crews joined the PA State Police, Cumberland County Team 400 (Search and Rescue), Yellow Breeches EMS, and Cumberland County Dept of Public Safety staff in a search for a mentally disabled woman who walked away from a residence. Crews encountered heavy downpours and dense vegetation while searching the area for five hours before locating the victim, who was transported to Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Finally, at 09:19, Boat 25 was dispatched for a reported vehicle in a pond in Monaghan Twp, at the intersection of S York RD and W Ridge RD. However, York County placed Cumberland County units available shortly after dispatch.
